Sports is considered to be an integral part of school curriculum. An ever-growing institution, R. V.S. Academy aims at providing quality education and all-round development of a child. Stress is laid on bringing out the hidden talents of a child in various fields through different activities.
This year the sports Day was even more special as R V.S. had the proud privilege of welcoming the esteemed guests from its partner school, Consett Academy, Durham, UK. They were here under the global exchange programme for 5 days. The 20 members of the team were enthralled to see a wide array of colourful and reverberant events displayed by the students.
The chief guest for the occasion was Mr Hassan Imam, the member of Hand Ball Federation of India. The occasion was also graced by the chairman of the school, Mr Binda Singh, secretary, Mr Bharat Singh, the executive members, Mr Shatrughana Singh and Mr Shakti Singh, Principal of the school, Mrs Mitali Roy Choudhary and vice principal, Mrs Veesha Mahindra.
The day began with the stirring March Past by the four houses, Rose, Violet, Sunflower and Aster which was followed by the Torch bearing ceremony. Oath was administered by the school captain, Md. Umar khan to maintain the Sportsmanship spirit throughout. The meet was then declared open with the release of colourful balloons.
The main attraction of the gala event was the well synchronised drill display in which the students portrayed the fact that as India has been the pioneer in Yoga since 5000 years ago and is recognised all over the world now, similarly India is one among the greatest nations to launch its satellite on moon and the only one to launch on the south pole. The drill displayed the journey of India’s progress from the age of Yoga to that of Chandrayaan 2.
Then began the fun filled events of the Pre-primary and Primary children that thrilled the audience.
