In an effort to enhance practical learning and provide hands-on experiences beyond the classroom, RVS Academy organized an educational visit for 30 students, accompanied by 4 teachers, to the Jharkhand Resham Taqniqi Vikas Sansthan in Chaibasa. The visit aimed to introduce the students to the intricate process of Tussar silk production, a craft that is both an integral part of Jharkhand’s cultural heritage and a significant contributor to the state’s economy.
During the visit, the students observed various stages of the silk production process, from sericulture to the extraction and weaving of silk. The institute’s experts shared their knowledge about the sustainable practices involved in producing Tussar silk, enlightening the students on the skill, precision, and effort required in this traditional craft.
The purpose of the visit was to provide students with a deeper understanding of indigenous industries, fostering awareness of the local economy and promoting interest in traditional craftsmanship. It also aimed to highlight the importance of integrating classroom knowledge with real-world applications, a key aspect of the school’s learning philosophy.
Mr. Binda Singh, Chairman of RVS Academy, expressed his delight at the success of the visit, stating, “Experiential learning is the cornerstone of holistic education. Such visits allow students to gain insights into their heritage while developing a respect for sustainable industries. The skills and values they learn here will remain with them as they grow into responsible citizens.”
Mrs. Veesha Mohindra, Principal of RVS Academy, further emphasized the importance of the visit, saying, “Our goal is to ensure that students do not just learn from textbooks but also from their surroundings and local industries. Visits like this encourage them to appreciate the cultural richness of our state while developing an understanding of how traditional practices can coexist with modern education.”
The educational visit was a memorable experience for all, as students returned with valuable knowledge and a newfound appreciation for the Tussar silk industry.
